Calico, named for the areas previous history as the centre of textiles and fabric trading in Liverpool, contains a balanced mix of 735 student bedrooms across three blocks of 8,11 and 15 storeys, plus ground floor communal welfare, leisure and management facilities and commercial space.
Built on an underused site on Lambert Way, close to popular educational campuses, Calico marks out a key corner site and supports the wider regeneration of the Islington area. Incorporating lounge areas, chill-out zones, meeting rooms, study spaces and the Sky Lounge, this development helps the students to optimise student time, it considers their wellbeing and creates a sense of fun.
Falconer Chester Hall was engaged by the Niveda Group to develop the original concept provided by KKA architects and to deliver on-site.
