Wilford Road is a new purpose-built student accommodation development, located on a prominent corner site within Nottingham City Centre Southside, adjacent to the University of Nottingham’s Castle Meadow Campus. Following a successful planning application to Nottingham City Council by CPMG Architects , Falconer Chester Hall were appointed to deliver the project by Jensco Student Living.
The development will deliver 395 student bedrooms, comprising 239 cluster flat rooms and 156 studio apartments, along with a variety of high-quality amenities including a gym, cinema room, private dining spaces, games area, meeting rooms, cycle storage, laundry, and waste facilities. While the site is not directly adjacent to any conservation areas, its prominent location near Nottingham Castle and other heritage sites necessitated careful consideration of visual and environmental impacts.
The development is set to achieve a 4% improvement above Part L of the Building Regulations, with an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating for commercial spaces. Key sustainability features include the use of air source heat pumps for heating and hot water, and a surface water attenuation system designed to handle significant rainfall events.
As part of the wider regeneration plans within the Canal Quarter Regeneration Zone, the development aims to contribute positively to the area’s ongoing transformation. The project is being delivered by Falconer Chester Hall for Jensco Student Living, with construction expected to complete in 2026.
