The Quarter, a five-phase development close to Liverpool waterfront, is due to restart on site, with completion anticipated for 2017.
Work on the FCH designed project stopped in 2008 after the first apartment building – named The Gallery – comprising 83 apartments was completed. That block proved a great success though, being managed by Vermont CL and further residential blocks look to build on this.
Last year the site, close to Liverpool Marina and a 10-minute walk from the Albert Dock, was put up for sale by administrators and now Liverpool-based X1 Developments, in partnership with North West Property Investment Firm Knight Knox International, has pledged to finish The Quarter.
Work has already begun on phase two – The Courtyard – which by the time of its completion date in September 2014, will comprise 89 one, two, and three-bed apartments alongside town houses, in addition to a gym, launderette, bike storage and basement car parking.
A further 342 apartments are due to be completed in three phases over the next four years.
Our client X1 and Knight Knox have already successfully delivered the X1 Arndale House and X1 Borden Court projects, both on London Road, Liverpool.
Head of marketing at Knight Knox, Samantha Jones, told the Liverpool Post: “Throughout all of our developments in Liverpool we have never seen demand dwindle – in fact, it is constantly increasing. Over the last 10 years the population has increased by 5.5% and with the mayor pledging to build 5,000 houses in his mayoral term there is a clear shortage of housing to which we hope to provide a solution.”
