The next phase of development on a key edge-of-city centre site in Liverpool has been given the green light.
The City Council has approved plans for 224 studio apartments in a 10-storey building at The Quarter on land bounded by Sefton Street, Stanhope Street, Caryl Street and Parliament Street. The apartment building has been designed for Liverpool-based X1 Developments Ltd and Vermont Capitol.
`These apartments will be highly desirable for a growing number of workers looking for reasonably priced accommodation within easy reach of their places of work in the city centre,’ said Adam Hall, Managing Director.
As well as the studio apartments, the scheme will also comprise a gym and business centre/internet zone on the lower ground and ground floor levels, while car parking provision will be in an underground car park which formed part of an earlier proposed hotel development for the site which this scheme replaces. There will also be public realm improvements and the creation of a piazza in front of the building.
`This site is hugely visible on a corner plot facing main routes in and out of the city and, as such, needed a building of high quality which we believe this will be,’ added Adam.
