Planning permission granted for The Metalworks, Liverpool

Falconer Chester Hall has secured planning permission for the £110 million Metalworks development, a major new residential project in Liverpool’s Pumpfields district. Designed for Jarron Developments, this 16-storey development will transform a prominent site at the junction of Leeds Street and Vauxhall Road.

Metalworks will provide 401 homes, including 396 apartments and five townhouses, with a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom properties. Premium amenities will include a cinema room, gym, co-working spaces, and rooftop gardens. Retail and communal spaces on the ground level will activate the Vauxhall Road frontage, bringing vibrancy to the streetscape.

Inspired by the site’s industrial heritage, the design features red brick façades, bronze aluminium detailing, and large windows, giving the building a strong architectural identity while respecting the area’s character. Sustainability is a key focus, with green roofs and public realm improvements enhancing the environment and accessibility. The rooftop terrace will offer stunning views across the city and waterfront.

Will Clarke, Development Director at Jarron Developments, commented: “We are excited to deliver such an iconic scheme in Liverpool, offering exceptional living standards and unmatched access to work, leisure, and transport options.”

Martin Haymes, Associate Director at Falconer Chester Hall, commented: “We are delighted that Metalworks has received planning permission. This development will be central to the transformation of Pumpfields, providing much-needed homes and high-quality public spaces, all while respecting the area’s industrial legacy. We look forward to bringing this exciting project to life, enhancing the community and contributing to the broader regeneration of Liverpool.”

The scheme’s proximity to Liverpool’s business district and waterfront, alongside integration with the city’s Active Travel Network, ensures it will be a prime location for residents.

The Metalworks project is a significant part of a wider vision to create a thriving new neighbourhood in Liverpool, contributing to the city’s ongoing growth and transformation.
