Liverpool tower tops out

X1 The Tower, within the X1 The Quarter scheme in Liverpool, has reached its highest point, bringing completion close on the fifth and final phase of the development.

Over five years, property consultancy Knight Knox and developer X1 have brought 693 apartments to the local rental market at the £74m project, situated at the junction of Sefton Street and Upper Parliament Street close to the King’s and Albert Docks

The tower includes 196 apartments over 24 storeys. Vermont Construction is the main contractor on the scheme, which was designed by Falconer Chester Hall.

Mark Connor, Vermont’s chief executive, said: “Having been involved in the scheme from its inception and delivered the previous phases, the topping out of X1 The Tower is an extremely proud moment for us all.

“The landmark tower provides an exciting addition to the Liverpool waterfront and skyline, and will deliver the final piece of the jigsaw on an extremely successful development for X1, Vermont and the region”.

Andy Phillips, commercial director at Knight Knox, added: “The topping out of X1 The Tower marks an important milestone for both Knight Knox and X1 and is the culmination of five years’ hard work that has delivered a substantial enhancement to the local area.

“We are certain that the apartments at X1 The Tower will prove just as popular as those contained within the previous four schemes.”

Work on the tower is expected to reach completion in the third quarter of this year. The building will, like its neighbours, be managed by X1 Lettings.

The previous elements of X1 The Quarter are the Gallery, comprising 82 apartments, the 89-apartment Courtyard, the 225-apartment The Studios and The Terrace, which houses 101 apartments. All were 100% occupied at last count.
