Falconer Chester Hall worked for the Malaysian developer, Shapadu Group, on their redevelopment of Days Hotel London Waterloo. As a result of that success, the practice was invited to enter the competition to design a world-class, mixed use development of 500,000 sqft, in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
Despite robust and impressive competition from a number of Malaysian architectural practices, Falconer Chester Hall won the commission to design an elegant and imposing new corporate headquarters with a cylindrical office tower as a centrepiece; set to be a significant building for Putrajaya and providing outstanding working conditions for Shapadu staff.
The project also includes a 300-room 5* hotel, 145 luxury condominiums with a stunning sky garden, restaurant and retail quarter, attractive to residents and workers in the area.
The impressive and enticing public realm will overlook the main boulevard and includes a cooling, tranquil pool and informal seating areas, crowned with a dramatic glass canopy, incorporating a modern interpretation of an ancient Islamic motif.
