Freestone Road, Bristol – Gateway 2 Approval

We are pleased to share that Freestone Road, Bristol has achieved Gateway 2 approval, marking a key milestone as the scheme progresses into construction.

Acting as Delivery Architect, Falconer Chester Hall has worked closely with Watkin Jones and the wider project team to secure Gateway 2 consent and navigate the new building control process, ensuring the design is fully coordinated and compliant as we move forward on site.

The 201-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme will transform a constrained brownfield site within Bristol’s Temple Quarter regeneration area. Arranged across four brick-clad buildings, the development is organised around landscaped courtyards and connected by elevated walkways, creating a coherent and carefully composed student living environment.

Targeting EPC A and BREEAM Excellent, the scheme reflects a strong commitment to sustainable delivery, incorporating PV panels and a connection to the district heating network.

We look forward to continuing our role overseeing coordination and delivery as works advance towards completion for the 2027/28 academic year.
