Moorfields office building to be brought back to life

A former office building will be brought back into use following the decision of Liverpool City Council to approve plans for the conversion of No 2 Moorfields into more than 100 apartments.

The 30-year-old building will see 136 studio apartments created in the upper floors under our plans for Isle of Man based client, Miller Services Ltd.

The proposals for a change of use to a residential property sit comfortably alongside the City Council’s aspirations for the area which forms part of a `Distinctive Neighbourhood’ as outlined by the Strategic Investment Framework. This identifies opportunities for buildings no longer needed as office space to become outstanding places to live.

`This is a very recognisable red-brick building which will benefit from a sympathetic conversion into apartments ideal for those looking to live close to their place of work or city centre amenities,’ said our Managing Director, Adam Hall. `The development will also add extra benefits for local businesses by bringing in new economically active residents.’

The building design will reflect the local context on Dale Street by including projecting windows in the first to fourth floor apartments, similar to those found on the nearby Ibis Styles hotel.

A ground floor office and blood donor suite will remain under the proposals. Of the 136 apartments, 16 will be fully accessible. All the apartments seek to achieve Lifetime Homes compliance where possible.
