Falconer Chester Hall’s proposals at Speke will create a dynamic frontage to Speke Boulevard with new pedestrian links into the adjoining New Mersey Retail Park. The buildings have been arranged to maximise sunlight into the proposed public space and are clustered together in the south western corner of a much larger masterplan, which will bring forward a mix of uses over the coming years. This pedestrian space provides a concentrated area of activity for the development and the design of water and landscaping elements enclose the public realm, whilst allowing views into the site from Speke Boulevard.
The cinema block is the anchor for the development, both in terms of use and form, with the remaining buildings being considered as more subservient, providing variety and interest to all sides of the square.
