Architecture practice Falconer Chester Hall has secured planning approval for a residential development on Kirkdale Road at the planning committee meeting today 27th June.
The scheme will provide 49 apartments comprising of 29 one-bed apartments, with the balance being two-bed units.
The six storey development offers undercroft car parking facilities for 21 cars and 26 cycle spaces. Located on a prominent site on the corner of two major roads leading to Liverpool city centre, the plot is currently occupied by Coopers Reupholstery, trees and green space.
Robert Brym, Associate Director at Falconer Chester Hall commented: “The approval of this planning application will allow the restoration the urban fabric of the area and act as a marker for wider regeneration. The slope on the site adds to the character of the development.
“The project steps down to 3 storeys along Kirkdale Road in acknowledgement of the existing local scale and will complement the streetscape in the locality. The deep recesses breaks up the massing, so the building reads as a series of smaller buildings rather than as a whole,” said Mr Brym.
Geoff Underhill, company solicitor and spokesperson for Erin Strategic Land said, “we could see the potential of Kirkdale Road and the requirements of the area to provide an innovative development on this prominent site leading to the city centre.
“A travel plan has been implemented to ensure that the development is sustainable and to minimise the impact of the development on the local environment and highway network. We are delighted with the final design and securing planning permission today,” added Mr Underhill.
